Yes: every month WattPayoff prices your most recent 365 days of actual usage (or all the history available, if less) on every current PG&E residential rate plan and sends you a notification. You see the estimated difference if another plan would have cost less, or a confirmation if yours was already the cheapest.

Rate comparisons show what different plans would have cost for past usage. Rate eligibility and future savings may vary.
Do I need to open the app for the check to run?
No. The monthly check runs on Ndili's servers, so it runs even when you don't open the app.
Why check every month if PG&E limits how often I can switch?
Because the timing of a switch matters. PG&E limits how often you can change plans in a year, so you want to switch when it counts. Your usage changes when you add an EV, solar, a battery or a heat pump, and PG&E's prices change during the year. A monthly check tells you when the numbers favor a switch.
The check does not account for that limit: it doesn't look at when you last switched plans. Before you act on a notification, check your change history in your PG&E account or ask PG&E when you last changed plans, and confirm you qualify for the plan, because the app doesn't check equipment requirements.
Frequently asked questions about the monthly check
What does the notification say?
In the app store screens its title is "Last 365 Day Analyses". It names the cheapest plan for your last 365 days, and either the estimated difference from your current plan or a confirmation that your plan was already the lowest-cost option.
Can I turn the notifications off?
Yes. You can turn each notification on or off: the daily "New Data Available" notification and the monthly "Rate Comparison Check and Recommendation".
