Is there an app that tells me if I'm on the cheapest PG&E rate plan?
Yes. PG&E Toolkit - Pro, an app for iPhone, iPad, Mac (Apple silicon), Apple Vision and Android from Ndili Technologies in San Jose, compares what every currently offered PG&E residential electric rate plan would have cost you, using your own smart-meter data from the last 365 days, and tells you which one was cheapest. It repeats the check every month.
See how it worksHow does it work?
Three steps, then it runs on its own.

Step 1
Connect
Share your PG&E usage with the app through PG&E's Share My Data program. You need PG&E electric service and access to your PG&E online account.

Step 2
Compare
The app calculates what your last 365 days of actual usage would have cost on each currently offered PG&E rate plan, side by side.

Step 3
Get told
Each month it checks again and notifies you. If another plan would have cost less, you see the estimated difference. If your plan was already the cheapest, you get that confirmation too.

Much Needed App! If you've ever tried to figure out which rate plan from PG&E is the most beneficial for your situation this is the app for you. I spent much time on my own trying to calculate the best rate plan for me. This app does it for me effortlessly after sharing data from my PG&E account. When I contacted customer support about the inclusion of the medical baseline in its calculations, they said they would look into it. Lo and behold, they implemented the medical baseline into the appropriate rate plans within literally minutes (as an option in account settings). Now that's what I call excellent customer service!
This app is awesome, it shows you how much energy you're really using. I just moved to California from Kentucky, so it's totally worth the price to help save me money.
Very helpful!!
Frequently asked questions about PG&E Toolkit - Pro
Short answers; the FAQ page has the rest.
Is PG&E Toolkit - Pro made by PG&E?
No. Ndili Technologies, Inc. receives PG&E customer data through PG&E's Share My Data program, only with each customer's authorization. Ndili Technologies is independent and is not affiliated with or sponsored by PG&E.
Does the app change my rate plan for me?
No. The app never changes your PG&E plan; it shows which plan would have cost least, and you change your plan with PG&E. PG&E limits how often you can change plans in a year, so check when you last switched before you change; the monthly check helps you pick the moment, but it doesn't track your last switch.
Which devices does it run on?
iPhone, iPad, Mac (Apple silicon), Apple Vision and Android.
